As a pump manufacturer and distributor, we find most of our clients do their own maintenance. Of course, we are always happy assist but in practice this will happen a few times a year. Mostly when unconventional wearing or damage raises alarms. What we have seen on more regular basis is the replacement of expensive mechanical seals when more costs effective refurbishment would be possible.
Obviously not everything can be repaired, but with costs and environmental footprint in mind it really is a missed opportunity not to investigate this avenue.
